In celebration of April being the Month of the Military Child, Culver’s of St. Robert provided custard sundaes to students and staff at Waynesville Schools during the week of April 20-24, including at East Elementary on April 22, 2026.
A special thanks goes to Shaun Morris of Culver’s who donated approximately 7,000 custard sundaes, Ed Morse Ford for providing the vehicles for transporting the custard, Rick Harne for organizing the week, Paula Tackett for organizing the volunteers, Infuze Credit Union, USO, The Pulaski County Sewer District #1, and other volunteers who delivered and served the custard.
At East Elementary, Shaun Morris, owner of Culver’s in St. Robert, Stephanie Linville, FBC for Culver’s in the St. Louis area, and Michael Wieland, director of operations at Culver Franchising System, joined the volunteers to help hand out the custard. They are pictured next to a thank you sign created by East students.

Waynesville R-VI will host a Kindergarten Kickoff at 5:30 p.m. on May 4, 2026, in the Waynesville High School Auditorium.
This is for parents of students who will be going into kindergarten this fall. Future kindergartners are welcome to attend as well. Snacks will be provided.

Children ages Pre-K-5th grade are invited to be dropped off at the WCC from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, for fun, educational centers prepared by future teachers. Your child will get to participate in many different learning activities such as rock painting, story book crafting, cloud slime creation, and different educational games. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The district will have 160 full-day preschool opportunities in the 2026-2027 school year with 40 students at each of these locations:
-Parker Educational Center (Waynesville)
-Freedom Elementary School (St. Robert)
-Pick Educational Center (Ft. Leonard Wood)
-Williams Early Childhood Center (Ft. Leonard Wood)
To be eligible, a child:
· Must turn age 4 by July 31, 2026
· Have a birthdate must be between Aug. 1, 2021, and July 31, 2022
· Must reside within the boundaries of the Waynesville R-VI School District.
· Must have transportation to and from school each day*
Applications will close at 4 p.m. April 21. Students will be selected via a random lottery drawing.
Parents will be notified by May 15 if their child is accepted into the program.

Love of Reading kicked off in the Waynesville R-VI School on Monday and will continue through Friday, March 6, 2026. Multiple guest readers have been volunteering to read to students this week. Waynesville R-VI will host a teacher recruitment event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at the Parker Educational Center. The event will begin with a welcome session, followed by screening interviews being held on site. At the end of the evening, a drawing will be held for an iPad.
