Maintenance Crew Leaders Jason King and Chris Bell talked with students about career opportunities with MODOT, ranging from maintenance and engineering to human resources. Items will begin being placed on the site beginning on Oct. 17, 2024, and will continue until all surplus items are placed there. Items will include lawnmower, brush hog, chairs, cabinets, folding computer tables, projectors, video equipment, printers, monitors, filing cabinets, tables, etc.

False fire alarm sounded at East Elementary
A false fire alarm sounded at East Elementary at approximately 10:15 a.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024. The fire department has responded out of an abundance of caution to confirm that there is no smoke and there is no fire.
East Elementary 4th and 5th graders will perform "What Does It Mean to be American?" on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at Waynesville High School Auditorium. Fourth graders will perform at 5:30 p.m. and 5th graders will perform at 7 p.m.
The patriotic concert is based on the book by Elad Yoran and Rana DiOrio. The concert is free and open to the public. We extend a special invitation to those who are currently serving or have served in the military.

Dr. Jamie Goforth, assistant superintendent of personnel services, presented the Community Recognition Plaque to Waynesville City Councilwoman Amanda Koren during the Oct. 14, 2024, Waynesville R-VI Board of Education meeting. Angela Houf, a library media specialist at the Waynesville Sixth Grade Center, was presented the Project Teach Award for the first quarter during the Waynesville R-VI Board of Education meeting on Oct. 14, 2024.
Houf’s project, "One School, One Book" reinforces reading instruction, increases parental involvement, bridges the home-school connection and builds a true community of readers.
The project includes a $100 stipend from Personnel Services.

On Oct. 12, 2024, the Waynesville Raiders Black Team (Male) finished 4th overall and the Orange Team (Mixed) finished 5th overall out of a field of 30+ teams in the Smith Cotton Raider Competition in Sedalia, Mo.
The Black Team placed as follows:
- 4th place overall
- 2nd place - 1-Rope Bridge
- 3rd place - Cross Country Litter Rescue
The Orange Team (Mixed) placed as follows:
- 5th overall
- 3rd Place - Physical Team Test
- 3rd Place - Cross Country Litter Rescue
The Raiders will next compete in the U.S. Army Cadet Command Raider Nationals Competition from Oct. 24-27 at Fort Knox, Ky.





The Waynesville High School Tiger Pride Marching Band performed at halftime during the varsity football game on Friday (Oct. 11, 2024) and then competed on Saturday in the Bi-State Marching Invitational at Potosi. In finals, the WHS band scored the highest in Visual Ensemble out of all of the bands and received the Outstanding Visual Performance trophy. The band also was awarded 6th place overall in the competition. Earlier in Prelims, the band placed 2nd and was also awarded the outstanding visual caption in their class.
The band will play again on Oct. 18 at Tiger Stadium for Military Appreciation Night. All active duty service members and military retirees with a military ID will be admitted free to the home varsity football game on Oct. 18.
The band will compete in the Class 5/6A Field Missouri State Championships at Battle High School in Columbia, Mo., on Oct. 19. #wayschools










On Oct. 11, 2024, the Tigers lost 0 to 42 to a tough Nixa Eagles team. The final regular season home varsity football game for the Waynesville Tigers will be held Friday, Oct. 18, 2024. Partridge Elementary staff learned more about the district’s future plans and upcoming major events on Oct. 8 during the Super Session with Superintendent Hilary Bales. To show her appreciation for Partridge staff members, Bales provided treats and a drawing for prizes for staff. The sessions provide an informal opportunity to engage with staff and to answer any questions that they may have. Dr. Jamie Goforth, assistant superintendent of personnel services, led staff in a communication activity.

Waynesville R-VI Superintendent Hilary Bales gave a presentation about her participation in the National Security Seminar at War College to the Rotary Club of Pulaski County on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024.
While there, Bales and her teammates examined current national security issues and exchanged candid dialogue with military personnel who were wrapping up their War College studies.
Bales shared information about the U.S. and international members of her team, the distinguished speakers, the activities she participated in and the lessons she learned during this week-long event.
Bales was nominated for the opportunity to attend the National Security Seminar by Command Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) Rick Morris, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army.



The 2024 Waynesville Tiger Pride Marching Band received 4th place out of a field of 24 bands from across Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at Parkview High School in Springfield.
In the first competition of the season, the WHS band was first selected to be among the 12 finalists from among the 24 bands that competed in the preliminaries. In finals, the band received 4th place out of the 12 finalist bands and also received the best soloist trophy, which was awarded to Chloe Hays, a senior mellophone player. The band also received the Outstanding Drum Major Award of all bands in finals. The three drum majors are Evan Baxter, Noah Forte and Seth Steuck.
The Tiger Pride Marching Band will next compete in Potosi, Mo., on Oct. 12. #wayschools


An ambulance was dispatched to Waynesville High School at approximately 1:10 p.m. today (Oct. 9, 2024) to treat an individual student with a medical condition. A parent/guardian has been contacted and will decide what, if any, further medical treatment is necessary. #wayschools
