The Waynesville R-VI School District will offer Summer School June 1 - June 29 for students entering grades K-12.

For summer school, students register for the grade level they will ATTEND IN THE FALL.

Details:

Waynesville R-VI School District Summer School will be in Session June 1 - June 29. Summer school classes will not be held on Friday, June 19, as we will be observing the Juneteenth holiday.
Both breakfast and lunch will be free during summer school.
For summer school, students attend the grade they will enter in the upcoming 2026-27 school year.
Open enrollment for summer school registration closes on Tuesday, April 7. Registrations received after April 7 will be accepted on a space available basis.
Waynesville Middle School students entering grades 7-8 will be at Waynesville High School for summer school due to cafeteria updates at WMS.
Freedom Elementary students will be at East Elementary for summer school due to HVAC upgrades at Freedom.

A fire alarm sounded at approximately 9:30 a.m. today, March 2, 2026, at Partridge Elementary.

Students and staff temporarily evacuated the building out of an abundance of caution. Students and staff will return to the building when fire officials give the all-clear.

Partridge Elementary named a Leader in Me Lighthouse School

Partridge Elementary has been certified as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School by Franklin Covey Education — a distinction that approximately 700 schools in the world have achieved.

“Leadership skills will be taken with students wherever they go in the world and that is what makes this such an impressive achievement for our students, families and staff,” said Principal Ruth Ann Justus.

Partridge Elementary will maintain its Lighthouse Certification for two years and will continue to foster its growth and proficiency in exemplifying a leadership culture and principles.

In addition, Freedom Elementary, Thayer Elementary, Wood Elementary, Waynesville Sixth Grade Center and Waynesville Middle School have also earned the Lighthouse certification prior to this school year.

This session, “Navigating Transitions Between Buildings,” is especially recommended for families of students who will be entering one of the following grades or stages during the 2026–27 school year:

Post-secondary transition (after high school)
During the session, families will gain insight into the behind-the-scenes planning that takes place to support students as they move to a new building. Parents and guardians will also receive practical strategies and tips to help their child feel confident and prepared for their next school transition.
