UPDATE as of 11:10 a.m.: Water is restored to East, Perimeter and Transportation

Water has been restored to East, Perimeter and Transportation as of 10 a.m. today (Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025). East Elementary students are in class and learning as usual.

 While the water has been restored, we are postponing today’s and tomorrow’s (Nov. 21 and 22) Gratitude With Grown Ups at East Elementary. Make-up dates will be sent at a later time.

 Attendance is at 92 percent and our staff and students quickly adapted. Bottled water was available by request. An ample supply of bottled water and hand sanitizers continue to be on hand. Custodians were able to flush the toilets using water provided by the Waynesville Rural Fire Department.

 While the majority of our students are in attendance today, if you ever feel anxious about circumstances, you are welcome to check out your student.

 A huge thank you goes to our staff, students, maintenance, parents, the City of Waynesville, Waynesville Rural Fire Department and the Pulaski County Health Department for collaborating with us.

East Elementary, Perimeter Education Center and the Transportation Department are temporarily without water this morning, Nov. 20, 2025.

Water service is expected to be restored to the area by noon.

Extra bottles of drinking water and hand sanitizer are being delivered to the impacted buildings. Additionally, the fire department is providing water for flushing toilets.

We will make a decision about whether or not we will host today’s Gratitude with Grown Ups by noon today, so look for an email and/or text.

Happy Veterans Day

All Waynesville R-VI schools have been or will be honoring Veterans with activities including concerts, breakfasts, assemblies, round table discussions with Veterans and writing heartfelt letters of thanks.  

Today (Nov. 11, 2025) our JROTC and Waynesville High School Tigers Pride Marching Band will participate in the Veterans Day Parade in St. Robert. The parade follows the  11 a.m. Veterans ceremony that is hosted by the Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce.

There will be no school and all offices will be closed today (Nov. 11, 2025) in observance of Veterans Day.

VOICES to perform tonight during Showcase Waynesville Schools

The VOICES Choir, an honor choir for students in grades 4-6, rehearsed on Wednesday in preparation for their performance tonight (Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025) at Showcase Waynesville Schools at Waynesville High School.

The VOICES Choir is under the direction of Vanessa Mason and assistant directors Laura Taylor, Beth Gibson, Amanda Johnson-Gonzalez, Lisa Martin and Terri Heiby.

Showcase Waynesville Schools is hosted by the Waynesville R-VI School District Foundation and is free and open to the public.

Close friends, family members and community leaders are invited to stay for the formal Induction ceremony into the Wall of Leaders – Janice Roam Dye and the late Dr. Ogden DeWitt as Lifetime Achievement - Alumni and the late Sadie Navarre as Outstanding Educational Professional. Showcase Waynesville Schools to be held THURSDAY;
3 to be inducted into Wall of Leaders

The Waynesville R-VI School District Foundation will host Showcase Waynesville Schools from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at Waynesville High School. Following the performances, three individuals will be inducted into the Wall of Leaders.

“We invite everyone – from family members to the community—to come see our student’s artistic talents and to watch the performances on stage,” said Foundation President Cheryl Vernon.

From 5 to 6 p.m. student art pieces will be on display, along with art and robotics demonstrations. At 6 p.m. students will take the stage for dance, instrumental and choral performances.

During the performances, the three individuals who will later be inducted into the Wall of Leaders will be introduced via video. The formal induction ceremony of Janice Roam Dye and the late Dr. Ogden DeWitt as Lifetime Achievement – Alumni, and the late Sadie Navarre as Outstanding Educational Professional will begin at 7:15 p.m. in front of the Wall of Leaders, which is located directly behind the bronze tiger statue.

This year’s Showcase Waynesville Schools is free and open to the public.

There will be no school in the Waynesville R-VI School District on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, in observance of Labor Day and all offices will be closed.

Waynesville R-VI bus drivers will be driving their routes today-Aug. 15, 2025, practicing their schedules for the first day of school. The first day of school will be Monday, Aug. 18, 2025.

Please note that buses will be running late in the afternoons during the first few days of school.
