All after school activities for today, April 27, 2026, will not be held in the Waynesville R-VI School District due to the potential of impending weather.

This means there will be no Club Tiger, no WIN, no sports practices, no sporting events and no middle school band concert this evening.

The Waynesville Middle School Spring Band Concert has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. tomorrow, April 28, 2026, at Waynesville High School Auditorium.

The WMS baseball game will not be rescheduled, due to scheduling conflicts.

The Central Ozarks Conference Tennis Tournament, which had been scheduled for today, has been postponed until tomorrow.

Preschool lottery drawing to be held May 4

Waynesville R-VI will host a lottery drawing for those who have registered for full day preschool at 9 a.m. on May 4, 2026, in Parker Educational Center, 909 U.S. Route 66, Waynesville.

Applicant families are welcome to attend the drawing. Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. for the drawing. Parents will be notified by May 15 if their child is accepted into the program.

Volunteers delivered and handed out the custard. More than 60 percent of Waynesville R-VI students are military impacted.

Students recognized for having artwork published



Waynesville R-VI students were recognized for having their artwork published in the Missouri Art Education Association's Show Me Art Coloring Book during the Waynesville R-VI Board of Education on April 20, 2026.



Students designed a coloring page based on their favorite outdoor activities, such as cycling, fishing, camping, sports, etc. and submitted their work for consideration in the publication.



Arianna Haslim's artwork took 1st place at the middle school level, and Emiyah Glover's artwork is featured as the back cover design winner.

Niki Dailey, a 4th grade co-teacher at Freedom Elementary, was recognized for being named the Waynesville R-VI 2025-26 Teacher of the Year during the Waynesville R-VI Board of Education meeting on March 23, 2026.



Her classroom serves as a model for effective co-teaching in an elementary school. Dailey has presented on co-teaching at the Innovation Summit Conference where she will return for a third consecutive year this summer. She also represents Waynesville Schools as a member of the SRSN Personalized Competency-Based Learning Master Teacher Cadre.



Waynesville R-VI’s District Professional Development Committee designed and implemented the selection process for the Teacher of the Year. Dailey will represent Waynesville in the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Regional Teacher of the Year process over the summer. The regional winner will represent the region in the Missouri Teacher of the Year process.

Doyle receives 3rd Quarter Project Teach Award
Macy Doyle, a teacher at Freedom Elementary, was presented the 3rd Quarter Project Teach Award by Dr. Jamie Goforth, assistant superintendent of personnel services, during the Waynesville R-VI Board of Education meeting on March 23, 2026.

Doyle was recognized for her "Project Wipeboard," an excellent way to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences for students.



The Project Teach Award comes with a $100 stipend from Personnel Services.

Waynesville R-VI School District Summer School will be in Session June 1 - June 29. Summer school classes will not be held on Friday, June 19, as we will be observing the Juneteenth holiday.
Both breakfast and lunch will be free during summer school.
For summer school, students attend the grade they will enter in the upcoming 2026-27 school year.
Open enrollment for summer school registration closes on Tuesday, April 7. Registrations received after April 7 will be accepted on a space available basis.
Waynesville Middle School students entering grades 7-8 will be at Waynesville High School for summer school due to cafeteria updates at WMS.
Freedom Elementary students will be at East Elementary for summer school due to HVAC upgrades at Freedom.
