Last chance to submit application for Parker Preschool for 2025-26 school year Parker Preschool is taking applications for 2025-26 Parker Preschool is taking applications for students for the 2025-26 school year via a Google Form at https://forms.gle/xwNx74ykEuM8utWn8. The application link closes at 4 p.m. on April 13, 2025. Applicants will be chosen through a lottery drawing. The lottery drawing will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 9, at Parker Educational Center. Applicant families are welcome to attend the drawing. Parents will be notified by May 16 if their child is accepted into the program. Students must reside within the boundaries of the Waynesville R-VI School District. About Parker Preschool Parker Preschool is a free preschool with the Waynesville R-VI School District. Students must turn age 4 by July 31, 2025, to be eligible for Parker Preschool, which is located inside the Parker Educational Center, next to Waynesville Middle School. In order to be eligible to attend the Parker Preschool program, the child’s birthdate must be between 8/1/2020 and 7/31/2021. Parker students begin at 8:15 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and dismiss at 3:05 p.m. Doors open at 8:05 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The Hope Squad at the Waynesville Sixth Grade Center hosted a food and household drive for the Armed Services YMCA. This friendly competition among homerooms and the office was a success with multiple items being donated. Hope Squad Facilitators Theresa McNutt, Kim Ramirez and Jody Taylor stated, "We are so proud of our Hope Squad team of students; this was an amazing service-learning project that they took charge of and it was exciting to see them work together for a great cause."

Waynesville Sixth Grade Center students in the "Paint Your Passion" Lead Group, facilitated by Kim Ramirez, unveiled their lighthouse mural on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025. "These students brought their vision to life, turning a blank wall into a masterpiece," said Principal Kevin Schnicker. "Their dedication, creativity and teamwork have left a lasting mark on our school—a vibrant reminder of what can be achieved through passion and hard work." The students painted this lighthouse mural to signify the school's commitment to the Seven Habits of Highly Effective Kids and Leader in Me concepts. Waynesville Sixth Grade Center has been certified as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School by Franklin Covey Education — a distinction that approximately 600 schools in the world have achieved. The students volunteered to paint after school and during weekends to complete the project and were presented certificates of appreciation, along with Ramirez. Snow routes today! The Waynesville R-VI School District will be running snow routes on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025. When the district runs snow routes in the morning, it will run snow routes in the afternoon. For bus riders only The Waynesville R-VI School District sent an email from traveltrackerrouting@app-garden.com with information about both regular routes and snow routes on Jan. 7 to parents of bus riders.
