
Students will be dismissed early on Friday, May 22, 2026, as follows:
- Grades 6-11 will dismiss at noon.
- Full day Pre-K at Parker Educational Center, Freedom Elementary and Pick Educational and Volunteer Center will dismiss at 12:45 p.m.
- Grades K-5 will dismiss at 1 p.m.
Please note: There will be no afternoon session at Williams Early Childhood Center.

OPAA! and Waynesville R-VI Schools are partnering to provide free meals through a drive-through service during summer school. The meals will be available through a drive-through service on the 9th Grade Center side (stadium side) of the Waynesville High School campus between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. on June 5, 12, 18 and 26.

a. The Federal Government is funding this program and OPAA! volunteered to participate so that families in our community could receive the meals. Children are most hungry during the summer months when regular school is not in session and OPAA! is partnering with Waynesville R-VI schools to help ensure that children have food on the weekends during summer school.

During the three-week program, JBA scholars live on campus in university housing and engage in a rigorous course of study led by college faculty and JBA staff. Woodin will participate in the “Soil to Supper” course, while Bullard will study “Big History: Finding Humanity’s Place in the Universe.” Fulkerson, who was also accepted into JBA, has chosen to pursue other opportunities this summer, including competing in the State Civics Bee, which he qualified for earlier this semester.



-Chromebooks and chargers will be turned in at the middle school on Thursday, May 21.
-If a student's last day will be BEFORE May 21, Chromebooks and chargers should be turned in to the library or Ms. Whittle on the last day of attendance.
-If you are homebound or absent, Chromebooks and chargers need to be brought to the middle school office by the end of the school day on May 21.
-Students with a 7th hour final at the high school will turn in computers and chargers to the library on the morning of May 22.
-Students, if your charger is missing, please look around at home thoroughly and ask ALL of your teachers if they have found any chargers in their classrooms.
-Computers will be checked for damages as they are collected.
Chromebooks for Summer School:
-Parents of 8th graders who will be participating in Launch summer school:
If a home device is not available for your child and they need their school Chromebook for Launch, please email Ms. Whittle by May 20 to make this request.
-8th graders enrolled in a WHS summer school class will get their Chromebooks back on the first day of summer school.
-Middle school summer school (current 6th and 7th graders) will have limited access to computers as requested by their summer school teachers, and will NOT be reissued their school Chromebook for summer school.

“An accomplished string quartet professionally premiered his composition at the festival, and it is now available to listen to,” said Emily Myler, choir and theatre director at WMS. “This is an extraordinary achievement that reflects his creativity, musicianship, and dedication to the craft of composition.”

Community conversation on preventing substance abuse is TONIGHT
Kym Laube spoke with students at Waynesville Middle School and Waynesville High School today, Friday, May 8, 2026, about preventing substance abuse and making healthy choices.
Parents, families and community members are strongly encouraged to attend a community presentation by Laube at 6 p.m. tonight in the Waynesville High School Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
With more than 30 years of experience working with youth and families, Laube is a member of the Tall Cop Says Stop team and serves as Executive Director of Human Understanding Growth Services. Her work focuses on helping young people and families prevent substance use through education, awareness and open communication.
During tonight’s presentation, Laube will discuss:
Strategies for preventing substance use
Ways to begin honest conversations with youth about drugs and alcohol
How families and communities can support young people in making healthy decisions
The event is hosted and sponsored by the Central Ozarks Medical Center (COMC).

Students should bring charged Chromebooks and their chargers to school each day.

This means there will be no Club Tiger, no WIN, no sports practices, no sporting events and no middle school band concert this evening.
The Waynesville Middle School Spring Band Concert has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. tomorrow, April 28, 2026, at Waynesville High School Auditorium.
The WMS baseball game will not be rescheduled, due to scheduling conflicts.
The Central Ozarks Conference Tennis Tournament, which had been scheduled for today, has been postponed until tomorrow.
