Unauthorized individuals asking for donations and/or advertising We wanted to make you aware of reports we received of children asking for donations through cash apps, GoFundMe or cash donations that are claiming to benefit Waynesville R-VI Schools or students. In addition, we have received reports of individuals offering alleged advertising opportunities involving the district. Following a Tik Tok trend, children have allegedly been going door-to-door in neighborhoods asking for funds for sporting equipment or other items to benefit Waynesville High School teams. The scam works by directing donors to give cash only or to go to external platforms, such as cash apps and GoFundMe to make a donation. This is not an authorized fundraiser for Waynesville High School or any other Waynesville R-VI building or program. In another case, local businesses have allegedly been invited to advertise on weekly progress reports for students. Waynesville R-VI progress reports do not include advertising. If you are questioning whether a fundraiser is legitimate or not, please contact Communications and Marketing at 573-842-2040 or email PR@waynesville.k12.mo.us. #WaySchools
