Thayer students participate in STEAM activities

Some Thayer Elementary students are staying after school to participate in a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) Academy.  Fifth grade girls participated in the first five-week academy, which began on Oct. 10.  After making a paper model of the brain and learning about each part and what it controls, students were invited to attempt synesthesia, the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body. In this case, they were listening to a musical composition and were asked to paint what they saw while hearing the song.
