WHS student wins national powerlifting championship
Jacob Hildenbrandt, 17, who will be a Waynesville High School senior in August, won the American Drugfree Powerlifting Federation’s 165-pound National Championship this weekend in Evansville, Ind.
During the event, Hildenbrandt broke two American records – deadlift and overall total. The event has three individual events – squat, bench press and deadlift – and the total for all three.
Hildenbrandt lifted a total 1107.8 pounds, a new personal best. Hildenbrandt also won the United States Powerlifting Association’s Central States Championships held in Kansas City on May 21. (Pictured is Jacob attempting a 507.1 lb deadlift)
