Head Start & Waynesville R-VI partner to help prepare students for kindergarten;

Head Start is accepting applications

Waynesville R-VI Superintendent Hilary Bales met with Erica Cogdill of the MOCA Head Start to discuss ways the district and Head Start can continue to partner together to help prepare students for kindergarten.

Head Start and Early Head Start are now accepting applications. Both programs provide health, education, nutrition and family support. Head Start is for students ages 3-5 (students must turn 3 by July 31) and Early Head Start is for prenatal to 3 years old.

Head Start and Early Head Start offer federally-funded educational programs for infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children of low-income families. Classroom lessons incorporate interactive learning experiences in early language, literacy, writing, and math concepts. Developmentally appropriate hands-on activities promote cognitive, social and physical growth.

To apply, parents will need proof of their child’s birth, family income and immunization record.

For more information about applying, please call the Waynesville location at 573-774-2460. The Waynesville location is at 19778 Sackett Lane in Waynesville.
