Tiger Festival of Nations

The Diversity Committee of the Waynesville R-VI School District hosted the Tiger Festival of Nations on Friday, Oct. 14, at Waynesville High School.

Students and staff from throughout the district along with community members shared details about their cultures and food samples during the Tiger Festival of Nations. For example, sophomore LEAP students Dominick Chamberlain, Elijah Wooden and Hallie Newberry created presentations for the Festival of Nations. Wooden prepared pancit, a traditional noodle dish served at parties in the Philippines. Newberry prepared German chocolate miniature cupcakes. The students shared information about superstitions associated with the noodles in pancit, foods prepared by Oma, and family ties to the cultures they represented. A special thank you to Jon Dye and Katelynn Hawk for their collaboration and contributions.
