WHS Band named Grand Champion
The Waynesville High School Tiger Pride Marching Band was named the Grand Champion of the Bi-State Invitational Marching Competition on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Potosi, Mo.
The WHS band won the following:
1st place in Class 5A parade
-all captions won (music, marching, percussion, colorguard)
Prelims Results: 1st place in Class 5A
- outstanding music, outstanding visual awards
Finals Results- 1st Place Overall
- outstanding music, outstanding visual awards
“All bands compete for the top award which goes to the band with the highest scores all day and we are pleased to announce that Waynesville was named the Grand Champion of the competition,” said Jared Sabatasso, director.
This is the band’s second Grand Champion award this season.
“We are going to each competition with the mindset that placement does not matter,” Sabatasso said. “As long as the students are improving individually and doing something better each time, everything will fall into place.”
The WHS band staff includes Jared Sabatasso, director, and assistant directors Nathan Gargus, Chance Inman and Andrew Tiefenbrunn. Bailey Poncia directs the colorguard.
“A huge thank you goes to all the band parents who help us at each performance,” Sabatasso said. “We couldn't do this without you and our staff working together!”
