Waynesville R-VI Foundation Grants awarded August 2022
The Waynesville R-VI School District Foundation awarded more than $7,000 in grants to Waynesville R-VI teachers. The following grants were awarded for the 2022-23 school year.
1) Alexandra Jarvis, Freedom Elementary, a $301.75 grant for books to promote social and emotional learning
2) Kyleen Oxendine, East Elementary, a $300 grant for decodable chapter books
3) Hannah Whitehead, Freedom Elementary, a $323.89 grant for decodable reading books
4) Melanie Rogers, Waynesville Middle School, a $476 grant for crossnets
5) Lisa Thornburg, East Elementary, a $300 grant for STEM tools
6) Mary Myers, East Elementary, a $260 grant for an incubator so she can hatch chickens
7) Katy Henson, Freedom Elementary, a $450 grant for sensory learning manipulatives
8) Christina Biart, Freedom Elementary, a $455.70 grant for social emotional bullet journals
9) Sara Allen, East Elementary, a $450 grant for STEM Lego wall and supplies
10) Susan Harris, East Elementary, a $500 grant for cardboard building tools for a Maker Space area
11) Jessica Babb, Freedom Elementary, a $200 grant for books that focus on social emotional learning
12) Allison Sylvester, Williams Early Childhood Center, for a $100 grant for a My Little Circus thematic unit.
13) Cydnee Gilmore, Waynesville High School, for a $250 grant to bring cards and paper flowers to the Waynesville Life Care Center
14) Jennifer Schaub, Wood Elementary, a $40.50 grant for sound box mats and chips and get moving sticks.
15) Natosha Hulett, Freedom Elementary, a $500 grant for literacy based sensory items
16) Sabine Labib, Williams Early Childhood Center, a $119.96 grant for strollers to help foster language and social emotional skills
17) Shannon Shrum, Waynesville Sixth Grade Center, a $389.70 grant for re-write boogie boards
18) Heather Cobb, Parker Preschool, a $200 grant for library books
19) Jordan Dewey, Partridge Elementary, a $500 grant for xylophones
20) Theresa Pollman, Thayer Elementary, a $174 grant for secret story supplies
21) Carrie Wolfe, Waynesville Middle School, a $307.43 grant for supplies for centers to promote literacy
22) Sarah Luttrell, Waynesville High School, a $359 grant, for a tile mural project
23) Joshua Mize, a $168.38 grant for modern history podcasts
24) Shannon Shrum, a $389.70 grant for boogie boards
Additionally, members of the foundation board tossed out t-shirts into the audience. The foundation board members are as follows: President Janice Dye, Secretary Cindy West, Treasurer Aaron Harrison, and directors Rick Harne, Sharon Kempen, Sophie Pierpoint, Courtney Long and Layne Lercher. Marianne Ward serves as the liaison.
