Training to be held for Partners on Patrol program

Individuals interested in the Partners on Patrol program – where members of the community are invited to be a positive presence in the hallways at Waynesville Middle School – are invited to attend training at WMS beginning at:

·      12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9 or

·      12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23

Individuals who have signed up to volunteer as Partners on Patrol should attend one of the two trainings. In addition, anyone in the community who is interested or wants to learn more, but hasn’t yet signed up for the program is welcome to attend either one of the two trainings. Those who attend the training will receive credit for having attended the training, but will still need to pass a background check before becoming a Partner on Patrol.

About the Program

The Partners on Patrol program is modeled after the Positive Presence Promotion developed by the national “Dads on Duty” program. A Partner on Patrol volunteer will spend at least one hour each week being a positive presence in the hallways at WMS, while assisting with supervising 7th and 8th grade students between classes. Partners on Patrol do not replace principals or school resources officers, but instead deliver big smiles, dispense positive affirmations, and perhaps share a few corny jokes while increasing adult visibility and presence.
