Treasure hunt takes place at Wood

Treasure hunt takes place at Wood

Ana Hay, a teacher at Wood Elementary, created a treasure hunt for her students on their last day of summer school on June 29, 2022. With maps and clues aligned to their learning goals, the students searched the room hunting for everything from the ABCs to high frequency words and phonics. To help light the way to their treasure, kindergartners and 1st graders used finger lights or magnifying glasses to find their words and treasure. Second through fifth graders used spy pens. After locating all their words, the students then found a treasure chest. To “unlock” the chest and pick their treasure, the students had to read all of their words or alphabet. Students were able to use their phonics notebook to help them read their words and the kindergarteners were able to use their alphabet chart to help them with their alphabet. The kindergarteners’ treasure chest was hiding under little ducks, in sand or in plastic eggs. Each hiding spot had a different theme.
