13 competing today at State in track and field

Thirteen Waynesville High School students are competing today in nine events in the Class 5 Track and Field Competition at State, after having qualified earlier at Sectionals. Additionally, the WHS boys track and field team finished first in sectionals out of 18 teams competing with a score of 97.5 points. 

The sectional winners and their events are as follows:

• 100: AJ Martin
• 110:  Hurdles  Jayzen Blake
• High Jump:  Jared Hyatt
• 4 x 200 relay:  AJ Martin, Chase Thomas-Plummer, Michael Lewis, Isaac Malay
• 4 x 100 relay:  AJ Martin, Chase Thomas-Plummer, Michael Lewis, Justin Knight.
• 3200:  Brian O’Barr
• 4 x 800 relay:  Brian O’Barr, Faheem Mujahid, Luther Supancic, Alejandro Malave
• Long Jump:  Justin Knight
• Triple Jump:  Keyshawn Smith and Jonathan Hedrick
