WHS named National Beta School of Merit award winner

Waynesville High School has received the 2020-21 National Beta School of Merit award. The school earned this recognition by offering National Beta to all eligible grades.

“Less than one-third of Beta Clubs in the nation qualify for this because it can be perceived to be more work to allow all students – freshman through seniors – the opportunity to participate in Beta; however, I believe that providing an opportunity for students to grow and develop throughout their high school years is an asset to our program,” said Dawn Wilking, WHS Beta sponsor. “I am proud of our Beta students because they want to make a positive difference at their school, in the community and in the world.”

The National Beta School of Merit award is given to honor a club’s dedication and commitment to academic excellence. To achieve this honor, a school must include members from all eligible grade levels in their Beta club. This year, only 29% of Beta Clubs across the country received this award.
