PACE screening to be held on Nov. 17

Are you interested in your child attending the Waynesville R-VI PACE preschool program at Williams Early Childhood Center on Fort Leonard Wood? Children who turned 3 years old by Aug. 1, 2020, could qualify for the 3-year-old program and children who turned 4 years old by Aug. 1,2020, could qualify for the 4-year-old program. PACE is a Title 1 Preschool offered by the Waynesville R-VI School District.

If you are interested in the program, the next screening will be on Nov. 17.  Please call 573-842-2650 for an appointment.

More details

Both the 3-year-old and 4-year-old programs are half days. Transportation to and from the half-day programs is not provided, but there is no cost to attend.

Children who meet the screening criteria receive three hours of classroom instruction in either morning or afternoon sessions, five days a week (Monday-Friday except on holidays). Each classroom of 12-15 students is led by a certified teacher and a para-professional.  This allows for each child to receive more individual instruction by the teachers, who hold teaching degrees in early childhood education.

During the classroom sessions, children are encouraged to structure their own thinking and gain mastery over their environment by observing, questioning, problem-solving, discovering, exploring, initiating activities, sharing experiences and making choices.

If you have questions or would like more information, please call 573-842-2650.
