Jefferson City. Sep 4. -- The Waynesville Tigers Cross Country team brought home multiple Top 20 placings for both Boys and Girls Varsity after competing in the Jim Marshall Invitation held in Jefferson City on Saturday, Sept. 5.
“I knew the kids were excited to compete,” stated Head Coach Nicole Jarman.
Jarman acknowledged that the team score could have been higher, but some runners had to miss the meet because of injury or not meeting the minimum required number of practices yet.
“I knew we had some top varsity players missing due to injury and lack of practices,” Jarman said. “As a team we could’ve placed higher, but the individuals that did race got their first race under their belt and will learn from it.”
Alejandro Malave managed to stay on top of things placing 11th in the Boys Varsity. “I was really confident going into the race because of my summer training,” Malave said.
Preparing for what's next
The next meet is Saturday, Sept. 12, at Lebanon.
“It's a flatter course than this week and we’re planning to do some good speedwork on the track,” said Jarman.
