Capt. Jesslyn Clark, a 2012 Waynesville High School graduate, has been selected to pilot a Blackhawk helicopter that will fly over graduation ceremonies at West Point, where a record number of former Waynesville High School students are scheduled to graduate.
“Our Tigers will be on the field and in the air representing Waynesville High School in unprecedented numbers at a single West Point graduation,” said Dr. Brian Henry. “I cannot imagine another community of our size having these bragging rights. We often say that Waynesville R-VI is where the orange and black unite with the red, white and blue and that tagline will be vividly portrayed on June 13.”
Clark will pilot the Blackhawk in the flyover portion of the West Point Graduation Ceremony on June 13. She is a Pilot in Command, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC, and assigned to the MEDEVAC Company.
"Congratulations to all five new Officers, what a tremendous accomplishment,” Clark said. “I wish you all the best with your military careers, enjoy being a new Lieutenant. I'll be waving from the skies!"
Clark will hang a special message for the five West Point graduates with WHS connections – Hunter, Ashley Wolf, Jon Lowe, Robert Osborn and Jason Brodeur – on her helicopter as she flies over the graduation ceremony.
“June 13 will be a great day to be a Tiger,” Henry said.
