Parents of 6th-12th graders are encouraged to download Canvas
Parents of Waynesville R-VI students in grades 6 – 12 have a new way to view their child’s lessons, assignments and other class-related content. By downloading the Canvas Parent App, parents will be able to review upcoming and past assignments and check on grades for assignments, quizzes and tests.
“The step sheets are attached; however, parents will need to obtain a ‘student pairing code’ before they can finish connecting with their child’s Canvas account,” said Michael Henson, director of curriculum and instructional technology.
A step sheet for how students can access the student pairing code is also attached.
Parents are encouraged to keep their eSchoolPlus Home Access Center account so that they can review 6-week, 12-week and final semester grades. Official grades that will be kept in permanent files will be placed in eSchoolPlus; however, daily work may be tracked in Canvas.
“Canvas is a way for parents to more closely monitor day-to-day assignments,” Henson said. “To put this in perspective, Canvas is similar to a credit card app that lets you see individual purchases and eSchoolPlus is like the statement that you receive at the end of the month.”
The Canvas LMS (learning management system) allows students to collaborate with their teachers and classmates, submit work, take assessments and track their grades and performance.
