WCC's LPN class hosts Valentine's Day party at Dixon Nursing and rehab
Love was in the air at the Dixon Nursing and Rehab Valentine Prep party. Phyllis Graves and her LPN Clinical group helped the residents make folders to serve as Valentine boxes. Family and friends were given a week to place and send valentines to the residents. On Valentine’s Day, the students took down the folders and brought residents to the activity room and had an old-fashioned Valentine’s Day party, complete with cards, cake and candy. The students helped open the cards and helped them read each one. Students were able to see first hand the difference one-on-one interaction makes and how by using different approaches they were able to engage people with different levels of cognition. The students also were able to see how much they themselves got rewarded for thinking out of the box.
