Firefighters called to WHS for fan overheating

Firefighters were called to Waynesville High School at approximately 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, May 14, 2019, to respond to an exhaust fan that overheated and shorted out in an art room on the first floor.

The fire alarm sounded and a single sprinkler head activated in the adjacent room next to the one where the fan had overheated. Students evacuated the classroom.

There was no fire and no smoke was observed.
