WHS debate students compete at Districts

WHS debate students compete at Districts  


Waynesville High School’s Speech and Debate Team had an impressive showing at Districts on March 2.


Darren McKenzie impressed the judges with his Original Oratory about education reform and qualified for State with a 1st place finish.


Travan Richards placed 4th in Radio, and Grant Kindred placed 4th in United States Extemporaneous Speaking. McKenzie and Gracie O’Donnell argued their way to a 3rd place finish in Public Forum Debate. Danielle Mendonez placed 5th in Humorous Interpretation.


Kindred also brought home a 4th place trophy in Lincoln Douglas Debate out of 112 debaters in the Neosho Speech and Debate Tournament on Feb. 23.


The team is coached by Patrick Brooks and Jaime Rowland.
