The Waynesville R-VI Board of Education participated in a board development workshop facilitated by the Missouri School Boards’ Association on Jan. 25. The workshop emphasized the important role board members play and how effective boards operate to improve student achievement.
The training stressed the importance of establishing and reviewing district policies, involving the community in the district’s Comprehensive School Improvement Planning process, conducting the annual superintendent evaluation, providing budget oversight and other topics related to effective board governance.
The Waynesville R-VI Board of Education recognizes the value of ongoing professional development to improve outcomes for students.
Based on research, this is one of a series of workshops designed to equip local school board members with the skills and knowledge necessary to function as effective education leaders in their communities.
The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a private, not-for-profit organization that exists to help school boards succeed.
