False alarm at WMDS

The Waynesville Middle School experienced a false alarm in the new academic wing at approximately 8:45 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018.

“There was no fire and there was no smoke; it was actually a sensor issue that triggered the alarm,” said Todd Whalen, director of student services and the district’s safety officer. “Students did not evacuate and staff worked with the fire department to quickly identify the issue.”
