Welcome to WSGC Nurse Page
My name is Shiloh Smith, I have been married to my husband Justin for 26yrs and we have 3 beautiful and smart-loving children along with one granddaughter. I have been a nurse since 2000 and have worked in a geriatrics, hospital setting and school nursing. I have currently been with the district since 2009 and started that journey over at Freedom Elementary. I transferred to the WSGC in Oct of 2020.
I believe that as a school nurse, my main role is to make sure our students are healthy and to be educated. I feel students need to be in class as much as possible to get the education they need. If, at any time, you have concerns about your child's medical issues, please email or call me. I have an open-door policy for students, staff, and parents. I want to make sure that you know your child is in good hands while at school. Please don't hesitate to contact me at any time.
Just a few things to review
1. Make sure you access your parent portal via Powerschool and complete your child's Student Medical form yearly. This form must be on file in order to give OTC medications and this is how we update medical concerns about your child. If you have something that needs to be discussed with me, please call or email your concerns.
2. ALL MEDICATIONS must be brought in by a parent or guardian in their original container. This is our district policy. Please do not send medication to school with your child.
3. If your child is running a fever, vomiting or has diarrhea. Do not send them to school. They must be symptom free for a 24-hour school day before returning without use of medication. Please notify the main office to report your children's absence.
Let's have a Tigerific year!!!
