• L.E.A.D.

(Leading our Education  And Determining our future) is a student-led leadership program at the Waynesville Sixth Grade Center based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey and the 21st Century Skills (communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking). Leadership committees provide real-life problems to solve by involving the students in the decision-making process in our school. Every student is involved. There are 18 different L.E.A.D. committees that serve our school or community and each student is able to choose his/her committee through a student choice selection sheet. The L.E.A.D. committees are facilitated by teachers and/or staff members. The groups meet each Wednesday for an 83-minute working lunch.
  • “Leadership is communicating

people’s worth and potential so clearly

    that they are inspired

    to see it in themselves.”
