Sixth grade is a very pivotal time and one where great strides can be made to empower all students to reach their highest potential. At WSGC every student will be part of a leadership group that focuses on 21st Century skills.
Sixth-grade students’ school day will be from 7:30 to 2:35. Breakfast (at no charge to the student) will be served each morning from 7:00 to 7:25. Students will be placed in homerooms and rotated through a team of three teachers with 90-minute teaching blocks each day.
Every student at WSGC will be placed in a L.E.A.D Committee (Leading our Education And Determining our future) this is a student-led leadership program based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey and the 21st Century Skills (communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking). The L.E.A.D. committees are facilitated by teachers and/or staff members. The groups meet each Wednesday for a 70-minute working lunch.
The dress code for Waynesville 6th Grade Center mirrors that of Waynesville Middle School. A copy of the dress code can be found in the WSGC Student Handbook.
