Mrs. Hilary Bales
Hilary Bales was named the superintendent of the Waynesville R-VI School District on July 1, 2022.
Prior to being named superintendent, Bales served as Waynesville R-VI’s assistant superintendent of personnel services and oversaw the district’s nearly 1,000 full and part-time employees. She led efforts to strengthen the district’s salary schedule to be competitive across all years of service, established an Aspiring Administrators Program, enhanced new teacher mentor programs, developed a teacher recruitment packet, promoted staff diversity and utilized social media to help recruit staff.
Bales began her teaching career in the Waynesville R-VI School District in 2001 as a special education teacher before becoming a special education process coordinator. In 2006, she was named assistant principal at Freedom Elementary and from 2007-14 served as principal, including at East Elementary. In 2014, she became director of special services for the district and in 2016 became assistant superintendent of personnel services. Bales has earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from Purdue University, a master’s of administration from Lindenwood University, a specialist of administration from Lindenwood, has completed the coursework and her dissertation is in progress for a doctorate in education administration from William Woods University.
Bales and her husband, Brandon Bales, have four children, three of whom are enrolled in the Waynesville R-VI School District.
