Welcome! My name is Elaine Cole, and I am very excited to be teaching second grade at Freedom Elementary. This is my 19th year teaching and my 14th year at Waynesville. I have taught two years in 3rd grade and 14 years in 1st grade. This is my third year teaching second grade and I love it! I graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield with my Bachelors in Elementary Education and my Masters in Education in Reading.
Let me tell you a little about myself. My husband, Jesse, and I have two beautiful girls. We also have a little Boston Terrier named Miley and two fish tanks! In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, swimming, watching basketball, listening to music, taking pictures, and spending time with my family. When you enter my classroom, you will see that I LOVE the beach!
I am excited to be your child's teacher this year. It is my goal to make this a fun and exciting year of learning for your child. It is my goal that this year your child will become more independent and learn habits that will make them successful leaders. I also want to help your child become more fluent in reading, writing, and math and instill a love of reading that will last a lifetime. I want them to be excited about school, love learning, and proud of their accomplishments. This year we will set goals for each child and track those goals in our portfolio. Goal-setting makes learning more personal and is very motivating. We will also use a lot of cooperative learning and technology in our classroom to keep kids engaged. I can't wait to see how much each student will grow this year!
