Mrs. Taylor’s Bio:
Greetings, my name is Jody Taylor and I am the ELL/ESL (English Language Learner) Specialist at Freedom Elementary.
I received my Bachelors degree (Major Psychology/Minor Elementary Education) from Columbia College and later received my Masters from the University of Missouri (Mizzou) in Curriculum and Instruction.
I began working for the Waynesville School District in Waynesville, Mo. 2012-2013 school year, I taught 5th grade at Wood Elementary on Fort Leonard Wood (Military Base) Mo. my first year with the district and then became the ELL/ESL teacher at Freedom. I enjoy the diverse student community which includes our ELL/ESL students (English Second Language Learners). I am certified to teach ELL/ESL students K-12, and in addition to my ELL/ESL certification, I am certified to teach 1st-6th grade and hold an eMINTS certification. If you do not know about the eMINTS program, this is inquiry based facilitation, implementing technology in the classroom, offering your student’s real world applications all while they are engaged in their learning experience. I bring these teaching tools as well as knowledge of reading strategies and math academies to my students on a daily basis. I am truly blessed to be able to encourage, assist and care for our future leaders. Being a teacher is not an easy profession; however nothing feels better then seeing your students feel good about their success and hard work.
Some of my favorite things to do are run (I've ran 7 ½ Marathon the past four years), weight train, camp, and cook as well as Geo Cache/bike with my wonderful husband and 14 year old daughter Emily. My husband and I became Grandparents (2014) our older daughter Brett (23) had a baby boy, Riley Cooper (4 years old) he is just a joy full of love and laughter ! My life is great and I couldn't ask for anything else. I look forward to a fantastic school year at Freedom Elementary and getting to know all of my students and their families.
