Mrs. Taylor’s Bio:

Greetings, my name is Jody Taylor and I am a 6th grade math teacher at the Waynesville Sixth Grade Center.

Education:

I received my Bachelors degree (Major Psychology/Minor Elementary Education) from Columbia College and later received my Masters from the University of Missouri (Mizzou) in Curriculum and Instruction.

I began working for the Waynesville School District in Waynesville, Mo. in the 2012-2013 school year (Before I taught in the Eldon Mo School District 6th grade math). When I came to Waynesville, I taught 5th grade Science at Wood Elementary on Fort Leonard Wood (Military Base). Then the next 9 years, I was the ELL/ESL instructor at Freedom & WSGC. Now I am back to where my teaching journey began in 6th grade (Math).  I enjoy the diverse student community at Waynesville R-VI and love getting to know students and families. I am certified to teach 1st-6th grade, I am certified to teach ELL/ESL grades K-12 as well as hold an eMINTS certificate. If you do not know about the eMINTS program, this is inquiry-based facilitation, implementing technology in the classroom, offering your student’s real world applications all while they are engaged in their learning experience. I bring these teaching tools as well as knowledge of reading strategies and math academies to my students on a daily basis. I am truly blessed to be able to encourage, assist and care for our future leaders. Being a teacher is not an easy profession, but nothing feels better than seeing your students feel good about their success and hard work.

Some of my favorite things to do are running (I've run 10 (1/2) marathons the past five years), yoga, zumba, weights, camp, and cook, as well as Geo Cache/bike with my wonderful husband and, 19-year-old daughter Emily (WHS Grad, and going into her Sophmore year at Mizzou) We love Mizzou football and are super excited that Emily made Marching Mizzou so we have another reason to go to Mizzou games!  My husband and I became Grandparents (2014) our older daughter Brett (28) had a baby boy, Riley Cooper (9 years old), he is just a joy full of love and laughter ! Our daughter Brett was married in May of 2019 to a wonderful young man (Cody Reitz). He is a great addition to our family! One great thing about my family is that we are all Star Wars and Disney fanatics (We took a family vacation in May 2022 and had a blast! We are going for Christmas 2023). My life is great and I couldn't ask for anything else. I look forward to a fantastic school year at WSGC and getting to know all of my students and their families.
