Mike Kelsey Sr

Hello!! This is my first year as a teacher at Waynesville High School. Previously I was a para-professional.  I also coach the freshman football team and Middle School boys basketball. Before I got into education, I served in the United States Army for 12 years. I am married, my wife and I have 6 children. My oldest, Michael Jr, is a junior here at Waynesville High.  My second son Breandan is a incoming freshman here at Waynesville High. My oldest daughter, Brooklyn will be entering the 6th grade this year and my fourth child, Maelkom will be going to the 1st grade at East Elementary. I have a 3-year-old son named Bradlee and my 10-month-old baby girl, Blasa. So it is safe to say we have our hands full. I received my undergrad in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland Global Campus. I am now pursuing my Masters degree in Educational Leadership at Western Governors University. I enjoy spending time with my family and I LOVE going to the gym. It is my happy place. The reason I decided to be an educator is because I love preparing young people for life. I am very transparent and I let my students know that I was not a perfect student. I hope that sharing my mistakes will help them make better choices, not only academically, but also in life. I am looking forward to preparing your child for life !!!
