Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Toye O'Brien
I am so excited to be teaching in the Waynesville R-VI School District again! My family and I moved to the area in 2000-2001 and I began my career at East Elementary as a paraprofessional. I completed my undergraduate in 2006 and received my Master's in Gifted Education through Drury University in 2014. I recently graduated from Lindenwood University with my Specialist in Instructional Leadership. I taught 1st grade and 2nd grade at East Elementary and then accepted the position at Freedom Elementary as the 3rd & 4th grade gifted and talented teacher. In 2017, my husband and I moved to Grafenwoehr, Germany where I taught 1st grade and Advanced Academic Programs and Services until June 2020. Now I'm finally home again and super excited to see all of my former students and parents, as well as meeting and getting to know those new students who arrived after I left and are just transitioning into the Waynesville/Saint Robert area. I will be teaching the 7-12th grade gifted and talented students and split my time between the high school and the middle school.
The 2020-2021 school year will undoubtedly be full of challenges, but we are in this together and WE CAN DO IT! I anticipate many celebrations in the future as we look to each other for support, encouragement, understanding, and compassion.
It's a great day to be a Tiger!
