Mrs. Raquel DeSouza

Dear Parents,

My name is Mrs. Raquel DeSouza, and I would like to introduce myself to you. First of all, it is an honor to be your child’s 3rd-grade teacher.

I have always loved learning; my parents have taught me that “what you learn, no one can ever take away from you.”This is my motto for life. Learn something new every day.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. A master's degree in Elementary Education. I am pursuing a doctorate degree and I have one class left plus my capstone to finish (almost there, other 3-4 semesters; hopefully).

I believe in public education and I believe every child can learn and it is my job to teach in different ways so every child has the opportunity to learn.
My background is diverse and I bring to the classroom strong science, math, technology, reading and writing skills.
I love the arts and in my class, there is an integration of singing, drawing, and painting as well.

I speak English, Portuguese and Spanish fluently (written and spoken).

I believe in strengthening skills that will be the foundation for education while allowing students to be creative and bring their uniqueness and talents to the classroom.

In my classroom students are held to high expectations. I will expect students to be respectful, responsible and safe learners at all times. I believe that learning is fun therefore, I will make sure my students are having fun while learning.

I have been working in the educational field since 2008.

I know students can accomplish anything they aspire to achieve and I hope to motivate them to be the best that they can be in whichever area they choose. I want to inspire students to believe in themselves and give them the tools that will help them achieve their goals.

Again, I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve your child this school year and remember we are a team.

If you have any questions, concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Together we achieve more.

Raquel
