The Waynesville R-VI School District has multiple options in the event of winter weather conditions:
- School will be in session. No changes. (Please note that the district does not typically make announcements that school is in session. If there is no announcement, then school is in session.)
- Run buses on snow routes. If we run snow routes in the morning, we will run them in the afternoon as well. See https://www.waynesville.k12.mo.us/Page/14613 for snow route information.
- Delayed start. All buses will run two hours late and all schools will open two hours late when it is announced that there will be delayed start.
- Early dismissal. An announcement will be made if school is to be dismissed early. Please note there are times when the district is advised to remain in session to allow time for roads to be treated.
In the event of winter weather conditions, transportation personnel begin checking roads at 3:30 a.m. and when possible, the decision is made by 5 a.m. Information about snow routes, delayed starts or school closings is sent to local radio stations, KY3, Channel 12 and a message is sent to parents via either School Messenger and/or Remind. The information also will be posted on the district’s website and on the district’s Facebook page.
Snow Routes for the Waynesville R-VI School District are available at https://www.waynesville.k12.
mo.us/cms/lib/MO01910216/ Centricity/Domain/924/12-6% 20snow%20route.pdf. If the link does not work for you, please go to the district's main website (www.waynesville.k12.mo.us) and click on "Departments," then "Transportation" and then "Snow Routes." For some routes, the snow route is the regular route.
Please note that if snow routes are used in the morning, snow routes will automatically be used in the afternoon as well. If your child's route is not listed, then your driver will notify you of your child's snow route.
