Mrs. Kara Darby

Hello and welcome to 2nd grade! My name is Kara Darby and I am starting my first year in the Waynesville School District. I recently moved to Missouri with my husband from Southern California where I student taught in both 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from San Diego State University and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential for Elementary Education from National University.

My passion for educating young minds sparked when I worked as a marine mammal trainer teaching others about marine animals and ocean conservation. It led me to follow my dreams and receive my elementary teaching credential.

I am married to a U.S. Marine and we have two rescue pups, Maverick and Kesler. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, exercising, any outdoors activities, going to the beach, listening to music, and watching hockey (go Ducks!). I am also the JV volleyball coach at Waynesville High School.

My goal for this year is to create a fun and interactive learning community within the classroom. As a class, we will work together to work towards our individual and class wide goals. This will be a great year and I am excited to see your child grow as a scholar!
