Mr. Patrick Brooks
My name is Patrick Brooks, and I am thrilled to start another year as a Waynesville Tiger! Last yearI had the privilege of working with some of the brightest students I've ever met, and I can't wait to see what this year holds in store. Before coming to Waynesville, I spent five years studying Rhetoric and Composition in the English Department at Saint Louis University; what this means, essentially, is that I spent five years arguing about arguing, and learning how to teach writing to young people.
Before going to graduate school, I spent three years teaching high school English at Newburg High School, the same place I graduated from high school. Though I have spent a few years teaching college students, my real passion is for teaching at the high school level. This job at Waynesville is truly my dream job, and I'm having a blast so far. I am currently in my sixth year here at Waynesville and my fifth year as the head coach for the Speech and Debate Team. Also, this year I have the honor of teaching my first Advanced Placement Language and Composition course.
I also have the privilege to be married to the greatest woman in the world, Ashley Brooks, and I have three adorable boys: Isaac (13 years old), Alec (8 years old), and Liam (5 years old). Aside from being a teacher and a family man, I am also a shameless uber-nerd. I love all things related to Classic Literature, Philosophy, Film Studies, Debate, and last but not least, Chess.
