Mrs. Ashley Day
Welcome to our classroom web page!
My name is Mrs. Day, and I am so excited to have your child for 1st grade this year! Just to tell you a little bit about myself...I was born and raised in Rolla which is also where my husband Ryan and I live today in a house that we just built on our family farm. We have been married for 5 years and have two dogs: Canuck (siberian husky) and Aurora (alaskan malamute). He is a firefighter for the city of Rolla, so our lives stay pretty busy. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, crafting, being outdoors and hanging out with friends and family. I am a big hockey (Go Blues!) and baseball (Go Cards!) fan as well.
I attended Drury University and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and then got my Master’s Degree shortly after that in Instructional Mathematics K-8. This will be my sixth year teaching and third year in Waynesville teaching first. I have also taught sixth and fourth grade in other districts, but first grade is by far my favorite!
First grade is such a crucial but fun time for students' growth and development, and I understand that it will be my responsibility to develop your child academically especially in the area of reading. I will do my best to make this happen all while creating an engaging and safe environment that your child will love coming to everyday. I am a strong believer in communication and want to work with you as a team in providing the best learning opportunity we can for your child. If at any time throughout the year you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. The fastest way to get ahold of me is through email at firstname.lastname@example.org, but you may also call the office at 573-842-2150 and leave me a message if you would like. I look forward to meeting all of you and the great year we are going to have! Go Tigers!
