    Course Objectives:
    Students will be able to justify food sources that supply each of the essential nutrients.
    Students will be able to recognize the risks and dangers associated with tobacco, alcohol, and drugs and their effects on the body.
    Students will be able to analyze the impact noncommunicable diseases such as diabetes and asthma, could have on adolescents physical, social, and emotional development.
    Students will be able to describe the body’s lines of defense and the stages of disease progression.
    Students will be able to identify how body systems interact to carry out key body functions, including providing nutrients and oxygen to cells, removing carbon dioxide and waste from cells and the body, controlling body motion/activity and coordination, and protecting the body. (Immune, Digestive, Nervous, Skeletal, Muscular)

    Classwork, Tests, Projects:
    Classwork will be assigned as needed
    Tests will be at the end of each chapter. (Retesting is allowed after academic assistance)
    Projects will be assigned during certain units/chapters.

    Classroom expectations:
    Be Respectful. Be Responsible. Be a Learner.
    Students must be in the classroom before the tardy bell rings, prepared with their daily materials for class.
    Students must raise their hands to speak and be respectful of the teacher and their peers at all times.
    Students must turn their work in on time!
    It is the student’s responsibility to ask the teacher for assignments when absent. Students have TWO days from the return back to school to make up those assignments. Students should check their grades in eSchool weekly to ensure that all work is submitted.
