The Waynesville R-VI School District acknowledges the importance of attendance within the educational process and provides several district and building level supports to ensure students within our school district meet Board of Education and Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) expectations.
State and District Attendance Expectations
The Waynesville R-VI School District Board of Education maintains the expectation that district students not exceed 5 absences per semester, or 10 absences throughout the course of the school year. Furthermore, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education maintains the expectation that elementary and secondary public-school students be present 90% of the school year.
Please be aware that if your student is absent for any reason (other than a school-sponsored event or activity), each absence will count toward their absence total, including medical appointments, documented or undocumented sick days, late arrivals and early checkouts.
While there is no such thing as an excused absence, it is important that the school receives documentation for these absences. If you have not yet provided your student’s school with documentation for these absences, please do so at your earliest convenience.
Please feel free to reach out to your child’s school with any attendance related questions.
