Mrs. Toye O'Brien

Hello Students and Families!
Welcome to the 3rd and 4th Grade Learning Enrichment and Acceleration Program (LEAP)! My name is Mrs. Toye O'Brien and I am your teacher this year at Freedom Elementary in Waynesville, MO. This is my 11th year of teaching and my second year in the Gifted Program Classroom.  I am so excited to begin this year in LEAP!!! I love working with all children and celebrate their diversity, unique personalities, and many interests. I have earned a Master's in Gifted Education through Drury University. Dispelling the myths about gifted and talented students and providing appropriate challenges for students of all levels of learning is my passion. I believe the way to accomplish this goal is to provide quality instruction and training in enrichment strategies and techniques to both new and veteran teachers. I strive to make my classroom an environment full of opportunities for exploration, development, creativity, and empowerment. I believe in teaching the whole child and providing each child with activities to stretch and challenge the brain, as well as, learning to understand oneself! We are going to have an exciting year full of learning, growth, and fun! :0)
On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Dan, for almost 30 years. We have one son, Patrick, 28 years old. I love to travel and spend time at the beach. My favorite color is green and I love to go for walks. I have participated in half-marathons and have completed one full marathon. I am a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan.
My promise to you and your family:
I will do everything within my power to make sure each and every student receives the proper instruction and resources to engage, challenge, and motivate them in preparation for their future and the challenges of the 21st Century.
I look forward to meeting you and your family very soon!
