    The Library of our youth was mainly a place to checkout books and perform research.  It is still that, but it is also so much more.  If you are wondering what your Library or Library Media Specialist can do for you, here is a sampling:
     
    • Collaborate with you to deliver classroom content
    • Promote and encourage reading for enjoyment
    • Provide fiction and nonfiction literature to students
    • Model reading
    • Help students find “just right” books
    • Promote the Book-It Program
    • Promote the Six Flags Six Hundred Minute Reading Challenge
    • Find materials to meet your curricular needs in our Library
    • Find materials to meet your curricular needs through inter-library loan from other district libraries
    • Assist students with finding information using our library collection
    • Assist students with finding information using our district databases like World Book Online and Facts 4 Us
    • Assist students with finding information utilizing Google Safe Search
    • Assist students with evaluating information and its validity
    • Promote and incorporate Accelerated Reader
    • Assist students in finding AR books, reading them and taking quizzes
    • Teach lessons on digital citizenship including Online Safety, Digital footprint, Ethical use of digital files,  andCyberbullying
    • Teach Lessons on Keyboarding
    • Assist classes or small groups with digital projects utilizing programs such as GarageBand, iMovie, Digital photo editing, Stop motion animation
    • Assist small groups with enrichment projects
