• Snack in a Pack Volunteering

Members of the community are encouraged to participate in SIAP activities. Below is a list of ways volunteers can donate their time. If you are interested in volunteering for SIAP, please email spack@waynesville.k12.mo.us or call (573) 842-2651 for more information on how to become a volunteer.

    Inventory Assistants

Inventory Assistants work with the SIAP Project Manager, helping to unload all purchases from vehicles and placing all food items on shelves. Inventory is re-stocked on the third Wednesday every month.

Packers meet every Wednesday from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the Snack in a Pack room located in the Pick Educational and Volunteer Facility. Packers fluff and fill the bags with food that are delivered to each students; students are welcome to help pack as well!

    Tote Distribution

     SIAP Delivery

Tote Distributors pick up the packed totes from the Waynseville VISTA office located in the Pick Educational and Volunteer Facility each Thursday and Friday morning and deliver their tote directly to their designated school. Extended weekend and Holiday totes are some times larger and heavier, they also might require a different delivery day then normal. Tote Distributions requires a reliable vehicle and a lifting partner volunteer.

    Tote Retrievers

Tote Retrievers are responsible for collecting empty totes from their designated schools and returning the totes to the Waynesville VISTA office in the Pick Educational and Volunteer Facility. Tote Retrievers may return totes on Monday or Tuesday between 8:00am and 3:00pm.

    Fundraiser Volunteers

Fundraiser Volunteers make themselves available to support various SIAP fundraising events in numerous ways including holding their own fundraisers and food drives. Volunteers can donate baked goods for Bake Sales, while others volunteer their time at specific fundraising events, and some others do behind the scene work.

Snack in a Pack
Snack in a Pack (SIAP) provides supplemental food packs over weekends and holiday breaks for students who may otherwise go hungry while not in school. Snack in a Pack is managed by the Waynesville AmeriCorps VISTA program.
SIAP provides weekly meals for approximately 325 students within the Waynesville R-VI School District. SIAP is a 100% donation-driven program that relies on the generosity of its partners, donors, and the multitude of community volunteers to continue its mission to feed hungry children and improve educational success.
The cost to support each student receiving a pack is approximately $200 for the school year. With the current number of student recipients, the total cost to feed all of them is approximately $65,000 each year. Snack in a Pack is always in need of donations (monetary or in-kind) and the help of volunteers interested in supporting the program.
