The Alternative Program at Pick Educational and Volunteer Facility
“Right Place, Right Time, Right Mind”
The alternative program at Pick Educational and Volunteer Facility provides a unique learning environment for students in grades 9-12 who may struggle in the traditional educational setting. The benefits of our program include, but are not limited to; smaller class sizes, training in leadership and resiliency, service learning opportunities, mentorships, and differentiated online course offerings. We also strive to establish engaging and caring partnerships with community volunteers, community organizations, and the military.
Our mission, "Right Place, Right Time, Right Mind", is meant to serve as a checklist of items that should be considered by our students prior to lending their participation to academic and social situations and settings. By posing and reflecting on the three questions below, we hope our students are able to identify the potential benefits and risks associated with these situations and make decisions that will have a positive impact on their goals and future success.
- Right Place Am I in an environment that will support my goals and promote future success?
- Right Time Am I fulfilling a commitment that will support my goals and promote future success?
- Right Mind Am I demonstrating an attitude that will support my goals and promote future success?
Our vision is that students will continue to form positive relationships and identify and engage in positive situations and activities following the completion of our program, which, in turn, will promote continuous growth through positive experience.
