Prop 1 funds at work
The Waynesville R-VI School District has hired a new school resource officer (SRO)– ChristiAna Ball – to be shared between East and Freedom Elementary, starting with the 2017-18 school year.

FFA donates plants to Good Sam and Community Garden
After completion of the annual FFA plant sale, remaining vegetable plants were donated to the Good Samaritan of the Ozarks and the Waynesville Community Garden.

Waynesville Middle School hosted a CSI-type night on May 16 engaging parents and students in solving a middle school mystery that required science to solve.

Food that is in when school is out
The Waynesville R-VI School District will offer free breakfast and lunch on Mondays through Fridays from June 5-30 for children* and disabled adults**

School board recognizes WHS interns
During their May meeting, the Waynesville R-VI Board of Education members recognized five WHS seniors who served as interns at Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce for the 2016-17 academic year.

WMDS choirs finish 1st and 2nd at Six Flags competition
On Saturday, May 20, the Waynesville Middle School choirs traveled to Six Flags for the final competition of the year where the Advanced Choir received the first place trophy and the Eighth Grade Choir received the second place trophy.

WHS Key Club helps Dixon Key Club
On May 6, members of the Waynesville High School Key Club showed their support at the Kwansis Dixon Golf Scramble, which was a fundraiser to help get the Dixion High School Key Club started.

Engineering students make plans for re-using buildings
The civil and architectural engineering class gave their final commercial project presentations on May 15-17. Col. Kevin Brown, assistant commandant of the Engineer School on FLW, Capt. O’Hara and Capt. Hattoum served on the panel of professional engineers/architects as students presented their projects.

Love of Reading Day with the dogs
To celebrate their Love of Reading Day on May 17 at Waynesville Middle School, volunteers brought therapy dogs to the middle school library where students visited with and petted the dogs before teachers read to them.

6th graders accept ‘impossible mission’
Waynesville sixth graders spent May 12 doing fun and challenging math events, collecting clues and then solving one of three “notorious” mysteries at the Might Mu Mission Impossible Mystery Day.

7 WHS students to go to state in track and field
Seven Waynesville High School students qualified on Saturday at Sectionals to compete in the state meet this weekend.

6th graders seek loans to start restaurants
One definition of community is a network of people with a common agenda, cause or interest, who collaborate by sharing ideas, information and other resources. At the Waynesville Sixth Grade Center, community is at the center of daily learning.

Middle school students participate in mock interviews
Waynesville Middle School students participated in mock interviews in the middle school gymnasium on Wednesday, March 15. The event was hosted by the middle school leadership group focused on gaining students access to college and career opportunities.

Music Parent Shares at East
During the month of March, East Elementary held 44 Music Parent Shares under the direction of music specialists Leigh Schaefferkoetter and Whitney Martin.

Students interview their way to business, etiquette luncheon
Second quarter was one of engagement, competition and excitement for students at the Waynesville Sixth Grade Center. As the students were immersed in the restaurant PBL, they also learned about writing letters of application and resumes.

Thayer 1st Grade students participated in a PBL activity that culminated with presentations to families in the Library Media Center.

Mike Freeman of Sellers-Sexton Ford Lincoln Mazda presented Laura Smith, the music teacher at Thayer Elementary, with the Teacher of the Quarter Award for her project “Off Their Rockers.”

The Waynesville Middle School Student Council was awarded the Missouri Association of Student Councils Gold Award at the annual MASC Convention held in St. Louis in March.

Houston named WHS Student of the Month for March
Helene Houston, a senior, was named the March 2017 Waynesville High School Student of the Month for March and was honored during the March 14 meeting of the Rotary Club of Pulaski County.

Adin Gauthier-Tyger, an eighth grader, has been named the Waynesville Middle School Student of the Month for March and was honored Tuesday, March 14, at the monthly Rotary Club meeting.

Kindergarten and first grade students at Partridge created a holiday PBL based on the driving question, “If you were a White House or Disney chef and asked to make a gingerbread house, what would it look like?”

Autism Class wins holiday spirit contest at WHS
The winners of the Christmas Spirit at Waynesville High School contest is the Autism Class with a tree decorated with painted wooden puzzle pieces using symbols that represent their students and their endeavors.

WHS students to direct 1-act plays
The Waynesville High School Theatre Department will be presenting a selection of one-act shows directed by high school junior and seniors this Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3, starting at 6 p.m.

An ambulance was dispatched at about 10:55 this morning, Nov. 28, to Waynesville Career Center to treat an individual student from a sending school with a medical issue.

Waynesville must meet 3 criteria to remain eligible for B2 Heavily Impacted Aid funds
Projections show that the 20-cent school tax levy would meet the federal government’s requirement to keep the Waynesville R-VI School District eligible for B-2 Heavily Impacted Aid for approximately a decade.

East Elementary students celebrated Friendsgiving Feast by making pumpkin pie in a bag.

Thayer 4th grader chosen as Artsonia's Artist of the Week
Artsonia presented Taitague with a plaque that has a photo of his artwork, Blick Art Materials donated a $50 gift certificate to Taitague and a $100 gift certificate to Thayer.

Thayer 4th graders and parents participate in Breakout Nights
Using a series of clues and lots of critical thinking, attendees solved puzzles to break the codes that opened a set of locks on the box and solved the challenge.

Ford donates to Waynesville booster clubs
The Tiger Athletic Booster Club and the Waynesville High School Band Boosters received $2,480 in November through the Drive One 4UR School at Sellers-Sexton Ford Lincoln Mazda in St. Robert.

Wood Elementary class collects canned goods
Chelsea Jeter’s class at Wood Elementary collected canned goods for the food pantry at the Good Samaritan in Waynesville.

FFA conducts food drive
In all around 3000 items were collected by WCC students for Snack in a Pack. The FFA kids are really thankful for all the donations.
