Social/Emotional Development

  • The East School Counseling program helps students begin the process of discovering who they are as individuals, members of the local community, and members of the Global Community. Counselors place focus on Self-Awareness by learning how to identify feelings and emotions properly. We help students learn how to balance their various roles in life by identifying their roles in a family, school, and community; Social Awareness. Counselors teach students about interacting with others in ways that repsect individual and group differences. This includes building Quality Relationships that leads to a Healthy Relationship and identifying similarities and differences between self and others. Importance on Self Control/Regulation and Coping strategies are also key content areas explored in the classroom lessons. Counselors will discuss Safe and Healthy choices, Personal Safety of Self and Others, and Coping Skills.
