Guidelines: Evaluation will include homework, quizzes, standardized objective and subjective tests, projects, and teacher observation of the use of the foreign language during classroom activities.Students must maintain 70% or higher in level 1 classes in order to remain in this class. Students who fall below 70% will be transferred to another class and will not receive any high school credit. Intro to foreign language classes do not receive a high school credit.Weighted Grades: 70% of grade will come from assessments and 30% will come from homework in level 1 classes. Intro to foreign language will be 50/50 split between assessments and homework.
Homework Policy: Homework will be assigned on an as-needed basis. All homework is considered “for practice purposes” the first time it is assigned, and once graded, should be used by the students to identify strengths and weaknesses regarding their own learning of the foreign language. Not doing homework will be detrimental in that when assessments such as quizzes, tests, and oral presentations arise, students may not perform as well as if the homework had been completed.
Assessments: All assessments such as quizzes, tests, and oral presentations may be redone if requested within the 6 weeks it was given; however, if any of the homework assignments are missing, that “practice” will have to be completed, scored, and corrected before retesting will be allowed.
eSchool: All assignments will be shown in eSchool. Presentation, project, quiz, and test scores will be counted toward the final grade. Homework scores will count toward the final grade.
Cheating and/or Plagiarism: Absolutely no cheating and/or plagiarism will be tolerated. This includes using an online translator. This will result in an automatic “0” and a referral to the office. For an acceptable online dictionary, use www.wordreference.com.
