Homework/Grading Policy
Student grades are based on a preponderance of the evidence (classwork, homework, formatives, and post-assessments). All assignments must be academically based and are scored using common scoring guides. No extra credit will be given. If the standard has not been mastered, students will be given the opportunity to reassess. Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated.
Late Work Policy
In order to be part of the final grade, all missing work must be turned in at least two days prior to the unit post-assessment.
The Sixth Grade-Level Standards outline what students should know and be able to do by the end of the school year. As students progress through the year, teachers are looking for student growth towards
meeting the expectations of
standards.
● For each standard,
teachers administer a
pre-test. After the
pre-test, teachers
provide instruction that
supports the standard.
● There will be guided and
independent activities.
Teachers provide
activities/
observations that will be scored and entered in the
grade book. These
activities/observations common
formative assessments that show the student’s progress towards meeting the
standard.
● Following the unit of
instruction, a post-test will be administered.
● Students who have not attained proficiency will
continue to receive additional instruction tied to the
standard so that the student can continue to work towards meeting the proficiency
standards by the end of the year.
